A China's Major Coal-Producing Province Exported Less Than 10,000 Tons' Coal in 2018 19 Mar 2019
Recently, 2018 National Economic and Social Development Statistics Report of Shanxi Province (China) was released. According to the report, the annual coal export volume of Shanxi in 2018 was 0.9 million tons with a decrease of 70.2%; the export volume of coke was 100,000 tons with a decrease of 51.2%; the export volume of magnesium and its products was 41,000 tons with a decrease of 4.5. % and steel exports amounted to 1.298 million tons with a decrease of 2.6%.
This was the first time that Shanxi's coal exports have fallen below 10,000 tons in recent years.
Since 2003, China's coal prices have been rising, forming a situation in which coal prices in China and abroad are upside down. In addition, China's export tax rebate rate for coal has been decreasing year by year until its cancellation, and the coal export volume of Shanxi Province have gradually shrunk.
By 2016, the annual coal export volume was 13,000 tons with a decrease of 94.5%; the coke export volume was 243,000 tons with a decrease of 65.6%.
In 2017, Shanxi's annual coal export volume increased slightly to 3 million tons with an increase of 1.3 times and coke annual coal export volume was 205,000 tons which decreased 15.8%.
