At the China-Egypt Business Forum held in Beijing recently, Dongfang Electric and Egypt Power signed a general contract for the Egyptian Hannawi 6×1100MW clean coal power project. The project is the world's largest clean coal power project, and it is the first time that Chinese companies have introduced ultra-supercritical clean coal technology with independent intellectual property rights to the world.

1100MW is currently the largest single coal-fired unit capacity in the world. The Hannawi 6×1100MW clean coal-fired power station in Egypt will consist of six coal-fired units with a capacity of 1100MW and will become the world's largest clean coal-fired power station.

The project will be built in the Red Sea tourist area and has high requirements for clean and environmental protection. Power station mainframe suppliers Dongfang Electric and Shanghai Electric said that their independent development of the host will use the world's most advanced high-efficiency ultra-supercritical power generation technology and near-zero emission environmental protection technology. The advanced nature of technology is mainly reflected in the high efficiency of coal-fired power generation. As far as the current standards are concerned, the state requires that the coal required for the first power generation be controlled below 300 grams, and the power consumption per kilowatt of this project is less than 280 grams, and the thermal power efficiency can reach 45%.
