CCTEG Shanghai Research Institute Unlocks the "Code" to Super-Steep Seam Mining

Recently, the MG300/730-QWD1 shearer developed by China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Shanghai Research Institute (CCTEG Shanghai Research Institute) has been successfully applied in a medium-thick coal seam face with an ultra-steep inclination of 74°, contributing to safe production in super-steep working faces and further expanding the institute's technical expertise in high-inclination seam mining. This groundbreaking achievement not only sets a new domestic record for the maximum application inclination of a shearer but also provides valuable experience and reference for the global mining industry in tackling ultra-high-inclination working faces.

This series of shearers was first launched by CCTEG Shanghai Research Institute in 2018, specifically designed for complex mining faces with high/steep inclinations. Capable of mining seams up to 4.2 meters thick and adaptable to a maximum face inclination of 75°, it incorporates multiple innovative technological achievements for medium-thick, high/steep inclination seams. These include an improved sliding shoe design and segmented haulage process, which collectively unlock the "code" to super-steep seam mining. These enhancements comprehensively improve face safety levels and have established a replicable and scalable solution for ultra-steep inclination mining. To date, over 60 units of this series have been deployed and successfully applied in both domestic and international markets.

Looking ahead, CCTEG Shanghai Research Institute will continue to deepen its research and development in technologies for complex high/steep inclination mining faces. The institute remains committed to increasing R&D investment, continuously optimizing the performance of existing shearers to enhance their adaptability and stability in complex mining environments. This will further increase mining efficiency and reduce operational costs. Simultaneously, the institute will actively explore innovative mining technologies and techniques to address even more complex and variable coal mining scenarios, providing robust technical support for the sustainable development of the coal industry.
