China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Chongqing Design Institute: All "green" to contribute to the Construction of a Beautiful China 2025-06-06 14:27:52.0
June 5, 2025 marks the 54th World Environment Day. China Coal Technology and Engineering Group Chongqing Design & Research Institute has been thoroughly implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization. Driven by innovation and guided by technology, the institute integrates green, low-carbon, and eco-friendly sustainable development technologies into engineering practices, contributing to the building of a Beautiful China.
Restore the vitality of the mine and make "green" the base color of the mine

Everywhere one looks, there is green vitality. The mine is no longer dusty but full of greenery. Chongqing Design Institute is promoting the ecological restoration of the abandoned mine in Fuling. By using unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) three-dimensional surveying technology, it accurately identifies the topography, landforms and ecological background, and customizes a "three-dimensional restoration + landscape improvement" plan. Through micro-terrain reshaping, it builds a stable geological structure and combines native plant communities to restore vegetation coverage. By ingeniously utilizing the terrain of the mine pit to create an ecological carbon sink forest, it is expected that the annual carbon sequestration capacity will exceed 50 tons. At the same time, incorporate landscape design elements to transform abandoned mine pits into ecological leisure Spaces. This ecological restoration not only eliminates the hidden dangers of geological disasters, but also builds an ecological barrier featuring "clear mountains, clean water and green banks".
Break through the difficulties of photovoltaic desertification control and solve the problem of grassland desertification

The basic principle of photovoltaic sand control can be summarized in one sentence: "Power generation on the panels, restoration under the panels, and planting between the panels." In the water and soil conservation practice of the photovoltaic desertification control base project in Ruoergai County, Chongqing Design Institute, in response to the difficulties of fragile ecology and severe grassland desertification in plateau areas, combined with the "grass-photovoltaic complementary" model, proposed planting suitable grass seeds between photovoltaic arrays to effectively control desertification and stabilize soil. Meanwhile, optimize the construction process, adopt a high support design to reduce surface disturbance, and build an ecological drainage system as a supporting facility. Through meticulous design, the project not only provides clean electricity but also maximizes the protection of the original vegetation and soil structure of the Ruoergai Grassland, achieving excellent ecological benefits.
Focus on regional water network planning to build a solid green ecological barrier
The construction of water networks is related to the overall situation of economic and social development and people's well-being. It is an important measure to achieve the optimal allocation of water resources and enhance the capacity of water security guarantee. Chongqing Design Institute undertakes the environmental impact assessment work for the water network construction planning in Hechuan District, integrating the concept of green development into the entire process of water network planning. By comprehensively applying ArcGIS spatial analysis technology to construct an ecological sensitivity evaluation system, using the Mike Hydro River model for hydrodynamic water quality simulation and prediction, and establishing a trinity evaluation framework of "water resources - water environment - water ecology", etc., the precision of ecological protection, the scientific optimization of planning and the systematization of management innovation are ensured. It will strongly support Hechuan District in building an ecological water network featuring "unobstructed rivers, clear water, green banks and beautiful scenery", and achieve the coordinated progress of high-quality economic and social development and high-level ecological environment protection.
Explore the safe landfill of fly ash to contribute to the construction of a waste-free city

The construction of "zero-waste cities" has become a key measure to promote sustainable development, and the safe landfill of fly ash, as a crucial link in the field of waste treatment, is closely linked to the construction of zero-waste cities. In the process of promoting the fly ash disposal project of the domestic waste landfill in Yongchuan District, Chongqing Design Institute broke the industry's conventional practice of "clearing the site first and then building", and innovatively adopted the "in-situ construction" design concept. It directly built the fly ash landfill on the fresh and unexcavated garbage pile, saving 30% of land resources, reducing the volume of earthwork transportation by 120,000 cubic meters, and lowering carbon emissions by approximately 1,500 tons. It provides a new idea for the activation and utilization of urban existing land resources. Meanwhile, an innovative integrated structural system of "double-layer flexible anti-seepage layer + composite reinforced foundation" was designed. Through interdisciplinary collaborative design of environmental engineering and geotechnical engineering, special anti-seepage materials and layer-by-layer dynamic compaction technology were adopted, which increased the reliability of the anti-seepage system to 99.9% at a landfill height of 8 meters. The related technology has been granted a national patent, filling the technical gap in the industry.
Next, China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Chongqing Design Institute will continue to practice the concept that "green mountains and clear waters are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver", focusing on scientific research and development in areas such as ecological restoration, green, low-carbon and environmental protection technologies, and the resource recycling and utilization of solid waste. With concrete actions, it will contribute to harmonious coexistence between humans and nature and jointly build a beautiful China with blue skies, green land and clear water.
