On the morning of July 6, the first meeting of 2026 of the Degree Evaluation Committee of the CCTEG Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the China Coal Research Institute) was held in Beijing. The meeting was presided over by Fan Shaogang, deputy secretary, director and general manager of the CCTEG Party Committee, president of the General Institute of CCTEG and Technology, and chairman of the degree evaluation committee. Kang Hongpu and Wang Guofa, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and vice chairman of the degree evaluation committee, and Liu Jianzhong, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and deputy general manager of the group company, and 19 members of the degree evaluation committee attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the 2026 doctoral and master's degree graduation/degree awarding of the General Institute of CCTEG and Technology, the establishment of research directions for doctoral and master's degree authorized disciplines, the scope of graduate majors/first choice majors that candidates can apply for in each discipline for graduate admissions in 2027, the selection, renewal and withdrawal of graduate instructors, the "Management Measures for Degree Awarding of the General Institute of CCTEG" and other relevant matters; it also listened to reports from the Graduate School and 7 discipline-leading training units on the implementation plans for postgraduate education and the development of various disciplines in the General Institute of CCTEG.

The meeting requested that the graduate school and each training unit should systematically summarize the results of graduate education during the "14th Five-Year Plan", face up to the current shortcomings in subject construction, enrollment and training, and faculty, and coordinate the key tasks and work measures for graduate education in the next five years. First, they must adhere to the leadership of party building, strengthen ideological and political education for graduate students, and integrate the party's leadership throughout the entire process and every link of graduate education; second, they must improve the discipline system and focus on supporting the group. The company transforms and develops and layouts emerging cross-cutting fields, and systematically optimizes disciplines, majors and research directions; third, it is necessary to improve the quality of education and make the whole process of enrollment, training, and degree awarding of master's and doctoral students manageable and controllable; fourth, it is necessary to build a strong teaching team and improve the whole-chain management mechanism of tutor selection, assessment, incentives, and guarantees; fifth, it is necessary to consolidate the responsibilities of all parties, gather the joint efforts of all employees in educating people, and build a high-level talent cultivation system with clear positioning, clear guidance, and outstanding advantages.

The meeting emphasized that postgraduate education, as a key part of the group company's talent strategy and an important starting point for the independent cultivation of high-level innovative talents, must adhere to the fundamental mission of cultivating people with moral integrity, deeply implement the group company's "1245" overall development idea, and be based on the school's mission positioning. We must vigorously cultivate young scientific and technological talents and outstanding engineering talents who are politically strong, professionally skilled, innovative, good at practice, and have both international vision and family and country sentiments that are urgently needed for the development of the group company, so as to provide solid talent support for the high-quality development of the group company.

Leaders of six discipline-leading training units including the China Coal Mining Research Institute, the Coal Research Institute, the Well Construction Research Institute, the Chongqing Research Institute, the Xi'an Research Institute, and the Shanghai Research Institute, as well as all the staff of the graduate school, attended the meeting.
